Condoning Israeli genocide of Palestinians

There is something particularly pernicious about the latest Israeli massacres in Gaza. The indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinian men, women, children and babies is as inhumane as in the two previous mass killings and atrocities. Only this time it was carried out under a renewed vigour and defiance of all international norms and a barrage of propaganda that much of the media has seemed keen to lap up to try to justify the unjustifiable, the blatant immorality of the intransigent aggressor devouring the victims as mere fodder.

How ISIS came to take over large parts of Iraq

The fall of Mosul in Iraq on June 10 to the extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and Sham [ISIS] may have shocked the world but it was no surprise to many analysts who had been monitoring the increasing sophistication of the group in conducting several operations across wide territory. Nor was it a surprise to the US, with intelligence and defence officials warning for over a year that ISIS was planning to take over large parts of Iraq.

WWI Centenary commemoration was ‘avalanche of pro-war propaganda’

Commemorating the centenary of the start of the First World War was, of course, necessary. Four years of conflict, the like of which had never been seen before, resulted in 37 million dead. It wasn’t, unfortunately, The War to End All Wars and it goes without saying that as we mourn those who died for their king and country, entire regions continue to be ravaged by conflict.
