MAIDAN SHAR, (Xinhua): At least 10 civilians were killed and 22 others wounded Monday morning when a passenger bus was struck by a roadside bombing in eastern Afghan province of Wardak, a provincial source said.

“I do confirm that 10 dead and 22 injured have been admitted to a provincial capital hospital till now,” Dr. Ghulam Farooq Wardak, head of the provincial health department, told Xinhua.

He said the number of casualties could rise as several injured remained in critical condition.

The blast took place at about 8 a.m. local time in Salar area in the province, 35 km west of Afghan capital Kabul. The ill-fated bus was travelling from the neighboring Ghazni province to Kabul.
