BAGHDAD, (Xinhua & The Muslim News): Up to 28 people were killed and 69 wounded in 8 car bomb explosions across the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Wednesday morning.
Most were Shi’a areas, some Sunni and some mixed areas, mostly market areas busy with people. However, because Prime Minister Maliki announced holiday Wednesday due to rain storms, the casualty figures were low.
One of car bombs ripped through Tobji neighborhood in the western central part of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding six others, the source said, adding that the other one went off in the neighborhood, killing three people and wounding nine.
Another car bomb detonated in Shaab neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad, killing four people and wounding 11, the source said.
Meanwhile, car bomb exploded near Kahramana intersection in Karrada neighborhood killed two civilians and wounded eight others, the source said, adding that another car bomb went off in Adhamiyah neighborhood in the northern part of the capital, killing two civilians and wounding nine.
In addition, a roadside bomb blew up at a popular marketplace in Sadriyah neighborhood in central Baghdad, killing two people and wounding seven, the source said.
One more car bomb went off in Amil neighborhood in the southern part of Baghdad, killing four and wounding 12 others, he added.
According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, almost 7, 000 Iraqis were killed and over 16,000 others injured from January to October this year.
