Syria: 17 killed, 30 wounded in rocket attack in Aleppo

5th Dec 2013

DAMASCUS, (Xinhua): At least 17 people were killed and 30 others wounded on Wednesday when rebels fired homemade rockets at two districts of Syria’s northern city of Aleppo, the state-run SANA news agency reported.

The rockets struck the Meridian and al-Furqan residential areas in Aleppo, SANA said, giving no further details.

Meanwhile, the state TV said a judge and a military officer were among the killed. The TV also aired footage of the attacked areas, showing scenes of destruction and bloodshed.

SANA also reported local residents’ demand that the Syrian army intervene to end the rebels’ rocket attacks in Bani Zaid and Bustan al-Qaser.

Blasts and mortar attacks have become rampant in the war-torn country and the violence shows no sign of tampering off despite international efforts to seek a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
