UK: Conservative Party sends 'Id message
13-10-2007
Caroline Spelman MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party, sends her best wishes to the Britain's Muslim communities at this time with the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Caroline said, "Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is a time for a great celebration. Eid is also a time for giving and sharing, and an opportunity to reflect on our duty to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves. Eid carries a powerful message to us all: to stop and think, to appreciate our family, our friends, and the responsibilities to the community of which we all are a part.
I know full well that the British Muslims have contributed a huge amount to our society. I believe the United Kingdom is a far stronger and better country because of the richness of its diversity. I admire your commitment to family, your spirit of hard work, and your devotion to community work - and certainly the ideals of these festivals show how much we all have in common - whatever our faith."
