Eid-ul-Fitr
I would like to send my warmest wishes to Britain’s Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid is a time for friendship and goodwill. It is also a time of great joy, where children, communities and families come together in celebration.
No matter what our personal faith, I believe that Ramadan and Eid carry a message for all of us in Britain: to stop and think; and to appreciate our family, our friends, and the community that we live in.
Eid is also a time for giving and sharing, and an opportunity to reflect on our duty to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Britain’s Muslim community has contributed a huge amount to our society. I believe Britain is a far stronger and better country because of the richness of our cultural diversity. I admire your commitment to family, your spirit of hard work, and your devotion to community - all of which are values that Conservatives applaud and cherish.
