IMEMC News & Agencies:  A 4-year-old child was killed, Friday afternoon, after being hit by a mortar shell fired from the Gaza Strip.
The shell fell on the Sderot Negev area of southern Israel, hitting two cars, according to the PNN. At about the same time, a barrage of rockets was fired from Gaza, reaching as far as central Israel.

Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Another rocket was fired from Gaza, reaching a synagogue in Ashdod and reportedly injuring three Israelis, one of them critically. Three others were also reported to have been lightly injured by a missile which hit a house, earlier, in the city of Sderot.

Israeli military sources claim that 430 rockets have been fired by the Palestinian resistance since Cairo negotiations collapsed on Tuesday. During this time, Israeli forces have attacked a number of targets across the region, killing 60 Palestinians and injuring hundreds of others.

One of the latest attacks reportedly injured 40 Palestinians, in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City.

Israeli strikes have now killed over 2,090 Gazans, since July 8, most of whom were civilians. Some 10,500 have been injured, with at least 100,000 left homeless.

68 Israelis have been killed in the same period, all but four of whom were soldiers killed during the ground invasion, according to Ma’an.

The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli missiles and shells since July 8 is at least 2,083, including 561 children, 255 women, and 98 elderly.

10,482 Palestinians, including 3,189 children, 1,994 women and 388 elderly have been injured; hundreds of them suffered serious injuries
