Palestine: Israeli army invades Khan Younis

6th Feb 2014

IMEMC & Agencies: Thursday morning, a number of armoured Israeli military vehicles carried out a limited invasion into an area, east of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses have reported that four armored bulldozers and a number of military vehicles, stationed at the Sofa military base, across the border, invaded the Palestinian neighborhood of al-Fakhary, bulldozed and uprooted farmlands.
They added that a number of Israeli drones were flying over the area during the invasion.

The soldiers also fired rounds of live ammunition at several farmers, forcing them out of their lands.
The invasion is part of dozens of invasions carried out by the army into border areas in the besieged coastal region.
The army claims that the invasions aim at locating and destroying tunnels used by armed resistance groups in Gaza.
Israel also enforces a “buffer zone” in border areas, preventing the farmers and workers from entering their lands, which are close to the border fence.
