Palestine: Land confiscated near Nablus, multiple arrests

International Middle East Media Center: Wednesday, ten dunams of land were confiscated by Israeli forces, on Tuesday, in addition to the restrictions imposed upon 500 dunams of private Palestinian farm land in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus, the Ma’an News Agency has reported.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian Authority official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank, told Ma’an that the Israeli liaison department in Nablus has officially notified its Palestinian counterpart of the confiscation order.

The land, he said, is located between the village and an illegal Israeli settlement outpost called Esh Kodesh.
More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in blatant contravention of international law.

Daghlas added that farmers are not allowed access to an area of more than 500 dunams around the confiscated land.
“This means,” he said, “they are confiscating 500 more dunams.”

Just today, a large military force has stormed several neighborhoods in the Nablus area, and has arrested six Palestinians, after raiding and searching their homes, according to WAFA.

Also arrested were three Palestinians from the Hebron area.
Five from Jerusalem, including four teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19, have also been arrested, according to a rights group.
