IMEMC & Agencies: Palestinian medical sources reported that a Palestinian youth was shot and injured in the face after Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinians holding a nonviolent protest in solidarity with Palestinian detainees, in Abu Dis town, in occupied East Jerusalem. Several Palestinians received treatment by field medics.

Eyewitnesses reported that a Palestinian youth, identified as Nayef Jaber, was shot by a rubber-coated metal bullet in his jaw as he was leaving his car after parking it at the main road in the town.

They added that the soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs and concussion grenades at the nonviolent protesters leading to several injures.

Local sources reported that clashes took place after the army violently attacked the nonviolent protesters marching in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners held by Israel. The protesters raised pictures of Palestinian detainees, Palestinians flags and posters condemning the ongoing Israeli violations against the detainees and the Palestinian people.

Dozens of residents, social and political leaders, participated in the protest and marched in the town, before holding a conference at the Abu Dis Club where several leaders, including Palestinian Minister of Detainees, Issa Qaraqe’, Archbishop Attallah Hanna, coordinator of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), Hilmi Al-A’raj, Fateh official in Jerusalem Anwar Bader, and other figures delivered speeches confirming solidarity with all detainees, and supporting the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people against the illegitimate Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Protest participants saluted all Palestinian detainees, especially hunger striking detainee, Samer Al-Eesawy, and chanted in support of the detainees.
