New Delhi/Ayodhya, (India Tomorrow): About six unidentified men on Friday evening broke an outer wall of an ancient Muslim shrine in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya town and brutally murdered a 22-year-old undergraduate student at a mosque near the shrine. The shrine houses a large grave which is popularly believed to be of Prophet Shis.

The district administration reached the spot at night and repaired the damaged part of the shrine. Later, they sent the body of deceased for post mortem. A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the area.

Talking to India Tomorrow over phone, Faizabad Superintendent of Police Ram Sewak Gautam confirmed the incident and said some people have been taken into custody for questioning. “We have detained some people for questioning in regard with the murder and attack on the shrine,” SP said.

The slain youth Mohammad Danish hailed from Rohtas district of Bihar. He was the first year student of Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) at Shree Paramhans Shikshan Prashikshan PG College in Ayodhya. He resided at the Jinnati Mosque near the shrine. He was also moazzin (azan caller) of the mosque. Around 7 PM on Friday some unidentified men entered the mosque and beat him brutally. After hearing his cry local people rushed to the spot and took him to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, Mohammad Lateef, a local resident informed.

Yugal Kishor Sharan Shastri, a priest and social activist in Ayodhya, told India Tomorrow that it is a conspiracy to disturb communal harmony in Ayodhay.

“Communal elements want to disturb our harmony and want to ugain it in upcoming general election.”

He also said that local people and district administration acted wisely to avoid any unpleasant situation.

The Prophet Sheth (pbuh)

Sheth (pbuh) was the third son of the Prophet Adam (pbuh). When Prophet Sheth (pbuh) was born, his father, the Prophet Adam (pbuh), had attained the age of 130 years. The Almighty conferred upon him the honor of Prophethood after Adam (pbuh). It is said that The Almighty revealed to him fifty small portions of the Scripture. When Prophet Adam (pbuh) was on death bed, he appointed Sheth (pbuh) as his successor and advised his descendants to follow him and live peacefully in perfect harmony. He tried to guide his followers on the right path, but some of them were strayed by the Satan. They began to worship Satan’s self-made portrait. Prophet Sheth (pbuh) passed away at the age of 912 years. Anush, his son, won a remarkable position after him. In the fourth century there existed in Egypt a sect of gnostic, calling themselves Sethians. They regarded Sheth as a divine emanation.
