Pakistan: Three FC personnel killed in Hangu explosion

HANGU/KHYBER, (Dawn): A roadside bomb targeted a security forces’ convoy in Hangu district on Wednesday, killing three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel.

Military sources confirmed that a security forces’ convoy was travelling from Hangu to Kurram Agency when it was targeted near Warmagal area on the Hangu-Kurram Agency border. Three soldiers were killed whereas 11 others sustained injuries.

The sources said the vehicle was also damaged in the attack.

The sources added that the blast was carried out using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and might have been detonated through a remote control.

Two bodies found in Khyber

Meanwhile, two bodies in gunny sacks were recovered from Khyber Agency’s Jamrud tehsil today.

According to political sources, the bodies were found from the Shah Kas area in Jamrud Tehsil. The victims had been gunned down.

Their bodies were shifted to the tehsil office.

Meanwhile, political administration of the area launched a probe into the incident.

Khyber is part of Pakistan’s semi-autonomous tribal belt on the Afghan border. The Taliban and other Al Qaeda-linked groups, who stage attacks in both countries, are known to have strongholds in the zone.
