Iran wins 1 silver, 1 gold medals at 2013 Junior Asian Championships

Tehran, (IRNA): Iranian 50kg and 120kg freestyle wrestlers on Saturday won a silver and a gold medals at the 2013 Junior Asian Championships (June 13-16) in Phuket, Thailand.   wrestlers from 18 countries are participating in the event.

To win the 50kg silver medal, Mostafa Yaghoubi of Iran defeated Taiwanese rival 4-0 in the first round, the Yemeni rival 9-1 in the second round and the Japanese rival 9-1 in the semi-finals but wasm defeated by Indian rival 0-4.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Ghomi of Iran managed to stand champion and win the gold medal of the 120kg category after overpowering the Iraqi rival 8-0 in the first round, the Uzbek rival 7-0 in the second round, the South Korean rival 6-0 in the semi-finals and Kazakh rival 9-7 in the finals.

The 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 74kg, 84kg and 96kg events will be held on Sunday.
